13th Annual Leaderhip Luncheon

Countdown to Leadership Luncheon XIII -- Friday April 18th!

On April 18, 2008 – hundreds of leaders from all over the Bay Area and beyond will converge at the San Francisco Marriott to celebrate Coro and effective leadership at Coro’s innovative “green”, carbon-neutral, heart-healthy 13th Annual Leadership Luncheon.

Honorees
This year we are honoring San Francisco City Attorney Louise Renne with the Crystal Eagle Award for outstanding civic leadership, as well as long-time Coro board member and volunteer Betty Schafer with our Lifetime Leadership Award. We are also presenting Kaiser Permanente with the new Coro Medal given to a business or institution that demonstrates and supports strong, principled leadership both in its management and in the community where it lives and works.

Speakers
There will be two featured speakers: Pro Football Hall of Famer and former San Francisco 49er Ronnie Lott, currently President of All Stars Helping Kids; and Carmen Policy, former President of the San Francisco 49ers who led the team to 5 Super Bowl wins, and created the Carmen and Gail Policy Clinical Fellowship at the Georgetown University Law Center which promotes civil rights advocacy. Our two speakers will discuss “Leadership On and Off the Field” in a coversation moderated onstage by Scott Shafer, Coro Board Member and host of KQED's California Report.

Green & Healthy
Pacific Gas and Electric Company will calculate the carbon footprint of the event and purchase carbon offsets to neutralize its impact.  Computers will be available for guests to calculate their own footprint and learn how to offset their own impact through PG&E’s ClimateSmart programs. Chef Charles Hechinger at the Marriott Hotel will prepare lunch using a menu from Kaiser Permanente’s Recipes for Health Program featuring all organic meats and produce, locally sourced where possible to save energy. Copies of all the Recipes for Health will be available at each place setting for guests to take home and incorporate into their own healthy lifestyle.

Representatives of the Exploring Leadership program for high school juniors and the Fellows Program in Public Affairs will introduce the award recipients and share moments from their Coro journeys.
