Thanks to all of you who were able to join us for the 15th Annual Coro Leadership Luncheon. The event was a great success on all counts. The topic, the Future of Public Higher Education, could not have been timelier. The featured speakers, President F. King Alexander of CSU Long Beach and Chancellor Robert Birgeneau of UC Berkeley, spoke eloquently about the challenges facing their individual campuses – both state university systems – and education in general. We all left with important information, and a heightened sense of the role public higher education plays in the economic, social, and political health of the state.

The highlight of the event came in the form of the Coro Youth Fellows and Fellows, who had time to share their Coro stories at the podium. I’ve heard many in attendance say how inspired they were by these young people. To Onyx Mapp-Childs, Raylene Lopez, Homaira Hosseini and Erika Carlsen, our deepest thanks for being outstanding Coro ambassadors.

With 600 people in attendance, the day was truly a shining moment for Coro and our community. With over 40% of those in attendance giving to Coro at the event, we were able to reach our board match, raising an additional $35,000. In all, over $320,000 was raised in support of Coro’s programs. Thanks to you all!

We now look forward to ending this fiscal year on June 30, and to beginning a new year. Opportunities abound for Coro, for our brand of leadership training. The impact we make on individuals, organizations and on our community is patently clear. Thanks so very much for your support! We hope to see you at our upcoming events and we look to you for ideas and opportunities.
