Fulbright Scholars Program

We are delighted to announce that Jason Molina, FPPA ’10 SF; Andrea Willis, FPPA ’09 SF; and Elli Nagai-Rothe, EL ’98 SF, are all recipients of Fulbright Scholarship awards, just announced this past month. Congratulations to all.

Ratna Amin, FPPA ’05 SF, is the policy director at Great Oakland Public Schools, a coalition of Oakland families, students, teachers, principals, nonprofit, community, and civic leaders united around a positive vision for public education in Oakland.

Lucas Botello, FPPA ’07 SF, is now with the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.

Adam Byrnes, FPPA ’05 SF, is the regional program manager for Renewable Funding in Oakland, providing turnkey Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) administration and financing services to hundreds of cities and counties across the country.

Hank Dempsey, FPPA ’97 SF, is working in Sacramento for the State as the special assistant to the director in the Department of Toxic Substance Control. 

Michelle Flores, EL ’03 SF, is an assistant account executive for Ruder Finn Public Relations in San Francisco.

David Joseph-Goteiner, EL ’09 EB, was the recipient of the Princeton Prize in Race Relations for his work on air pollution issues in West Oakland.

Phil Kilbridge and Kelley Karandjeff, FPPA ’98 SF & StL, welcomed their second son, Alexander Kelley Kilbridge, on March 16, 2010.

Lainie Motamadi, FPPA ’02 SF, and husband Aaron Johnson, welcomed a daughter, Nula Johnson, on February 8, 2010. Nula has an older brother.

Prescilla Ramirez, EL ’09 EB, was recently named a Gates Millennium Scholar, Class of 2010! Our congratulations to Prescilla for this outstanding achievement.

Susan Sun, FPPA ’01 SF, and SF Controller Phil Ting, welcomed their second daughter, Madeleine An-Yuan Sun Ting, on April 1, 2010.

Oliver Zerrudo, EL ’10 SF, was chosen by Speaker Nancy Pelosi to do an internship in the House of Representatives in Washington D.C. this summer.

In memoriam

Cecil Riley, FPPA ’55 SF, passed away on December 29, 2009, following a battle with cancer. Cecil served as the city manager in both Palo Alto and Oakland, and as general manager at Rossmore Leisure World in Walnut Creek.
