Youth Fellows Step Up To Address Foster Care and Food Justice
During the last week of the Exploring Leadership summer component the San Francisco and East Bay Youth Fellows delivered community action projects to inform, inspire and engage their respective communities to address important issues. The East Bay Youth Fellows designed and delivered a project to address the lack of resources for emancipated Foster Youth, while the San Francisco Youth Fellows held a resource and awareness fair to address the lack of access to healthy foods in the Bayview District.

Exploring Leadership Summer Showcase
On Thursday, August 12th, the Youth Fellows presented what they learned during the 8-week summer component in front of an audience of over 200 family, friends, teachers, and internship supervisors at the Summer Showcase at the First Unitarian Church of Oakland.

The EL Class of 2009-2010 Reunion
On Sunday, August 29th, last year's Exploring Leadership Class of 2009/2010 reunited at the Berkeley Marina for a potluck, yearbook signing, egg toss, soccer, and reminiscing. They each shared what they had done over the summer and what their plans are for stepping up as youth leaders during their senior year.

EL Alum Receives Brower Youth Award for Outstanding Leadership
De'Anthony Jones, from the Exploring Leadership Class of 2009, recently received a Brower Youth Award (BYA). The Brower Youth Awards annually recognize six people ages 13 to 22 living in North America who have shown outstanding leadership on a project or campaign with positive environmental and social impact. De'Anthony has been recognized for projects that he started as a Coro Youth Fellow and developed through his senior year at Mission High School.

Fellows Examine The Port of Oakland
During the first week of their Coro Fellowship, the new class of Coro Fellows spent five days examining the Port of Oakland. They reached out to over sixty individuals, ranging from the Board of Port Commissioners, Port of Oakland staff, members of City Council, labor unions, environmental advocacy groups, contractors and engineers, and other stakeholders within the Port of Oakland and in the surrounding communities.
