Neighborhood Leadership Program

Coro Southern California is currently not running a Neighborhood Leadership Program
Check back for updates on when the next program will begin.

History: For over five decades, Coro Southern California has convened individuals from diverse interests to dialogue and advance community development.

The Neighborhood Leadership Program is a multi-month, program that provides leaders an opportunity to meet and discuss community issues, map community assets, and strengthen leadership skills. Our objective is to support the existing networks for progressive change and community development.

Since 2001, Coro has provided workshops for over 500 stakeholders from dozens of Los Angeles communities, ranging from the Harbor to Watts to the West Valley. Our work includes facilitating the 10th Council District Empowerment Congress in 2004, and a youth summit at South Los Angeles New Area High School #1 in spring 2006.

Program Goals

Through the program, key members of the South Los Angeles community will meet to:

  • Create dialogues with community leaders, elected officials, business leaders and public agencies
  • Identify community assets
  • Catalog resources within the community
  • Explore emerging strategies to improve community health, education, and positive business development.
  • Strengthen ties that cross the sectors of business, non-profits, labor, government and politics

The most recent program took place in 2006 in South Los Angeles.
