Founded in 1998 by Coro Northern California, the Exploring Leadership Program has evolved into a national staple program for many of the Coro centers across the country. Coro Southern California modeled their program after Coro Northern California's successful program and graduated the very first Los Angeles class in the Summer of 2004.

Los Angeles is one of the most diverse cities in the country, allowing for an interesting mix of young people who learn about new cultures, experiences, and perspectives. With this premise, Coro has tailored ELP to accommodate the needs of Southern California youth and their communities, concentrating on issues important to LA's young leaders.
