After School Leadership Programs 2004, 2005, 2006

Coro developed several after school series to help students broaden awareness, bridge divides, and discover unrealized potential.

Each program provided leadership training to 25-35 high schoolers and consists of twelve sessions, both on school grounds and at off-site locations. In collaboration with school administrators, the programs offered a breadth of activities, excursions and exercises that are simultaneously educational, engaging, and fun.

Program Goals
  • Provide positive developmental alternatives during the after school hours;
  • Improve student achievement by cultivating new skills and building on existing youth assets, creating new and sustaining leadership roles for youth;
  • Encourage social responsibility by delivering a substantive youth group project for each school and community; and
  • Expose young people to a variety of perspectives, experiences, and viewpoints in order to promote cross cultural understanding and effective communication.

Past Programs have taken place at the following schools in Los Angeles:

  • Santee Education Complex, 2006
  • Jefferson High School, 2005
  • Crenshaw High School, 2004
