Congratulations - Coro Health Leadership Program III
Graduation, September 27th
Coro Southern California celebrates its 50th Anniversary of "Training Tomorrow's Leaders" this year--2007. While running other program areas in Public Affairs, the Community/Neighborhood, and Youth, Health is the newest to the fold. The Health Leadership Program (HLP) is a boundary-crossing leadership training experience that uses collaborative approaches to prepare a multi-cultural, professionally diverse group of healthcare professionals to improve the quality and accessibility of healthcare in Los Angeles County. Program participants - Coro Health Fellows - enhance their leadership and collaboration skills in a hands-on manner by combining their existing experience with knowledge gained from the various components of the HLP. As such, Coro's HLP provides a valuable contribution to the community and respective organizations by equipping participants with the practical skills, knowledge, relationships, networks and resources necessary to reduce health disparities, advance the development of our community's healthcare workforce, and ultimately, improve health outcomes.
Founded in 1942, Coro is a national non-profit, non-partisan leadership institute whose mission is to strengthen communities and the democratic process by preparing individuals for effective and ethical leadership. We are dedicated to training and leadership development, field research and facilitating action.
Coro has a Health Advisory Board that is actively involved in the planning and implementation of each program run. We also have a number of partner organizations that generously support us and/or participate in the HLP. The HLP Alumni Network is comprised of 50 Coro Health Fellows and an equal number of health professionals that are involved with the program. Class of 2005. Class of 2006.
Program Components
Coro's HLP empowers its Health Fellows by increasing their relevant knowledge, expanding their skill set, and providing opportunities for practical experience. Health Fellows, in turn, grow individually and are better able to provide valuable contributions to the community and be a means for improving the workforce capacity of partner organizations.
