Fellows in Sacramento
The 2007-08 Coro Fellows in Public Affairs spent the week of March 9th in Sacramento studying the inner workings of state government. Together with their colleagues from Northern California (San Francisco), the Fellows worked on the Logic Study Question: “What is the logic of the State budget priorities?”
The week started with an alumni dinner hosted by Jim Schoning, FPLA ’66. Fellows met with alumni who shared with them the inner workings of the State Capital. Focusing on the aspects of water, health and education, the Fellows went on to conduct 43 interviews with key leaders in Sacramento including State Treasurer Bill Lockyer, Senator Alex Padilla (FPLA ’95) and Anne Sheehan.
The Annual Coro Capitol Reception was held on March 11th at the Cabana Ultra Lounge where Coro saluted the following alums: Debra Bowen, Sec. of State, Community Invest ’89; Hon. Alex Padilla, California State Senator, FPLA ’95; Randal Hernandez, California Community College Board of Trustees, Leadership Southern California ’96 & Coro Board Member.
