CORO

USC Joint Master's Program

University of Southern California/Coro Southern California

Fellowship Program - 2008

The University of Southern California (USC) School of Policy, Planning, and Development and Coro Southern California are pleased to announce the establishment of the USC/Coro Fellowship program. Consistent with Coro’s mission to strengthen the democratic process by preparing individuals for effective and ethical leadership in the public arena, SPPD prepares leaders and produces knowledge that provides innovative solutions to the most critical issues facing society. Over the years, graduates of both USC and Coro have assumed leadership roles in public, private and nonprofit organizations throughout the country and the world.

The USC/Coro Fellowship program provides an opportunity for individuals selected to Coro Southern California and who are admissible to the USC School of Policy, Planning, and Development to participate in Coro and simultaneously complete the USC Master of Public Administration degree. Individuals selected to this program will receive a $24,000 fellowship to pursue the MPA over the two year period. The scholarship money will be allocated proportionally among the number of units taken. While completing the Coro program, fellows will receive 2 units of credit in the fall and 2 units of credit in the spring for the Coro leadership seminars. In addition, it is expected that Coro fellows will enroll in 2 additional units each during the fall and spring semester on the USC campus. A sample program is attached.

Coro fellows may also use the fellowship to pursue SPPD’s Master of Public Policy, Master of Planning, or Master of Health Administration programs; but because of course requirements and sequencing, it may take 2.5-3 years to simultaneously complete the degree with the Coro fellowship program.

For over 60 years SPPD has been ranked among the top programs in public affairs in the nation. Most recently, SPPD is ranked number seven in the overall public affairs rankings in the 2008 U.S. News and World Report.  SPPD was ranked 4th in city management, 5th in public management, 7th in non-profit management, and 10th in social policy.

To be considered for the USC Coro Fellowship program, applicants need to submit a completed application for admission prior to July 1, 2008. Application instructions can be found at the following URL:
