The Coro Leadership Center-St. Louis prepares individuals to be engaged, responsible citizens and effective civic leaders by providing rigorous, hands-on leadership skill training.
Coro Leadership Center – St. Louis is the premier experiential leadership development training program in the region. Combining hands-on skill development, interview and project-based learning, and multi-sector community experiences, Coro produces individuals who think critically, communicate effectively, navigate confidently, and collaborate consciously with the diverse elements in any group. Coro alumni operate in every sector in the community – business, nonprofit, government, and labor – effecting positive and lasting change and improving the quality of the life of the region.
The training year is underway with Women In Leadership Class 55 and the 2010-2011 Fellows Program in Public Affairs Class. Our trainers, Keith Clark (Fellows) and Julie Lawson (WIL), are beginning their respective programs. Once again, we have selected Fellows and WIL participants who are bright, talented, diverse and committed to being effective leaders. It's going to be a great year!
In the coming months, we will start recruiting for Women In Leadership Class 56 and our second Mastery of Leadership class, both of which will begin after the first of the year. Ongoing opportunities to network and learn about topics of interest in the region will be available as a part of our Coro Leadership Connection series, events held by the Women In Leadership Alumni Association, and other community initiatives.
Maintaining Coro's impact in the community is essential. The quality of Coro's training not only attracts talent to St. Louis, it retains that talent in partnership with a vast network of organizations that value the expertise of Coro alumni. Coro's programs are filling a critical void in developing the leadership capacity of our region.
The momentum throughout the summer has been significant. I want to thank everyone - board, staff, alumni, and the community - for the many ways in which you help Coro to achieve its commitment to experiential, community-based leadership skill training. We are good stewards of our resources and will continue to ensure that every investment of time, talent, and treasure has a direct and positive impact on our community. In all things, we are committed to transparency, accountability and integrity.
- Dawn Stringfield, President & CEO

The first Coro Leadership Connection event of 2010-2011 was held on August 25.
Julie Stackhouse, senior vice president of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis' Banking Supervision and Regulation department, engaged the audience in a detailed discussion about what happened to the economy in 2008; how the various efforts of the Fed and the government kept the country from plunging into a more serious situation; what areas needed to be addressed to avoid similar problems in the future; and how the new Regulatory Reform act will go about addressing those problems.
Julie presented to a diverse group of bankers, nonprofit leaders, and members of a variety of organizations from the community. In a very short period, she capably covered the topic at a variety of levels, and distilled the essence so that all who participated left with an increased understanding of what happened and what it means for the future of the region and the country.
Coro - St. Louis is grateful to Julie Stackhouse and the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis for making our kickoff of Coro Leadership Connection such a success.
