Women In Leadership Program

The Women In Leadership (WIL) program is a five-month part-time training program aimed at providing an opportunity for women to refine their personal and professional leadership competencies, learn about the community, and connect with other women from diverse backgrounds.

 

Training

  • emphasizes inquiry and experiential learning
  • exposes participants to social institutions and community sectors
  • uses the community as the classroom
  • provides opportunities for participants to assess leadership competencies and develop strategies for improvement
  • values the critical role of diversity in leadership training
  • requires full participation and attendance

Coro has an established inventory of tools that are basic to every Coro program.  Program facilitators and trainers draw from this list to tailor program components to meet the needs of specific programs and participants.

 

Areas of Focus

  • Inquiry and interviewing
  • Experiencing a broader view of the St. Louis community
  • Cultural awareness
  • Exploration of what it means to be a leader
  • Organization analysis
  • Heightened awareness of women in leadership positions in the St. Louis community

 

Applicants

  • have at least three years of management or entrepreneurial* experience 
  • are interested in community involvement
  • are committed to actively contributing to a learning environment 

*In this context, "entrepreneurial" means that the applicant has participated in the creation and management of an organization for at least three years.

 

 

Upon Completion of the Program, Graduates Have...

  • Improved leadership effectiveness to apply to their personal and professional life
  • Increased appreciation for diversity of perspectives in personal and professional affiliations
  • A deeper understanding of selected community issues and how to get involved 
  • Enhanced ability to network within the community and access resources to produce results
  • Joined a strong network of Coro graduates throughout the region 

Program Schedule

The Women In Leadership program includes five (5) Saturday seminar days and four (4) Thursday field days.  Minimal additional work is required outside of the program days.

 

Program Fee

The cost for the Women In Leadership program is $2,500.  A very limited number of partial scholarships based on financial need may be available.  Applicants have the opportunity to apply for a scholarship upon completion of Selection Day.  Many employers will pay all or part of the tuition as part of their continuing education program.
