Leon Panetta. Leon Panetta started politics in 1966 as an assistant to Senator Thomas Kuchel. In 1969 he became assistant to the Secretary of the Department of HEW and was later appointed Director of the Office for Civil Rights where he defied President Nixon and enforced civil rights laws. He went on to represent California’s 16th district in Congress from 1977 - 1993 and has served as White House Chief of Staff from 1994 - 1997. He currently co-directs the Leon & Sylvia Panetta Institute for Public Policy with his wife. |

Edward J. Rollins. After working in academia and state government, Republican strategist Ed Rollins served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Congressional Affairs for Presidents Nixon and Ford. He served President Regan as Assistant to the President for Political Affairs and Director of the Office of Political Affairs. He has managed many campaigns including President Reagan's re-election campaign. He returned to the White House as Assistant to the President for Political and Governmental Affairs. He is currently a CNN commentator. |

Mina Kim. Mina is a graduate of the Coro Fellows Program in Public Affairs and currently serves as a lecturer and trainer for Coro. She is also a reporter and on-air talent for San Francisco Public Radio Station KQED. Mina will moderate the on-stage conversation between Leon Panetta and Ed Rollins. |
