Sandra Tasic (STL '02)

Sandra is very excited to serve the Coro community as CNAA President for the 2009-2011 Board!  A graduate of the 2002 St. Louis Fellows in Public Affairs class, Sandra currently resides in Washington, DC, and is an organization and strategy consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton, a government consulting firm.  She has been involved with CNAA since 2005 when she first joined the Board, and has served the organization as newsletter editor, Gathering planner, and vice president.  Her professional interests include strategy and organization development, communications, and inter-organizational collaboration.  She is also actively involved in the Coro DC Alumni Group, and invites all alumni visiting DC to say hello when they’re in town!  You can reach Sandra at stasic@coro.org with any questions about CNAA or ideas for how we can better serve the Coro alumni community!

 

 

Vice-President
Bethany Davidson (PGH '05)

Bethany Davidson is the new Vice President of CNAA which she has served on since 2007. A 2005 Pittsburgh FPPA alum, she is currently the Deputy Director of the Pittsburgh Community Reinvestment Group. After completing her Masters degree in Public Policy and Management at Carnegie Mellon University, she joined PCRG’s team as the Policy Manager and has overseen the policy and programming areas with PCRG since 2007. Bethany works with PCRG’s membership – community based organizations and community development corporations – to advocate at a local and state level for equitable policy and resources on issues of significance to community development in the Pittsburgh region – most notably around land use, blight reduction, public safety, regulatory reform, and recently expanding to include transportation and infrastructure.

When she is not advocating for neighborhood revitalization, Bethany engages with her community as the Treasurer of the Midwife Center for Birth and Women’s Health, is a partner at Pittsburgh Social Venture Partners, a founding member and Treasurer of the Pittsburgh Community Reinvestment Group, and works with four other women to host an annual event fundraiser to benefit two local organizations working for Women’s Reproductive Rights for 350 of her closest friends. She is a member of PUMP and to blow off steam is a committed member of their year-round dodgeball league. Bethany trains and runs marathons and generally loves to be outdoors whenever she can!

Interim Treasurer
Victor Sanguanboon (PGH '01)

Victor Sanguanboon is a 2001 graduate of the Fellows Program in Public Affairs in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  Victor is currently the interim Treasurer for the Coro National Alumni Association and has served on its board since 2002.

Victor is employed as a Special Agent with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS) and is assigned to DCIS Headquarters as the Program Manager for International Logistics and Support, Southwest Asia Operations.  Prior to coming to DCIS Headquarters, Victor conducted criminal investigations involving the corruption of public officials and the sexual exploitation of minors by DoD civilians, contractors, and members of the military.  In 2009, he completed a six month deployment with DCIS to Baghdad, Iraq, and Kabul, Afghanistan.

In his free time, Victor is a volunteer pilot with the Civil Air Patrol and is working to obtain his commercial pilot certificate.  Victor earned a Master of Science in Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University and a double Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Criminology from the University of California, Irvine.

Honora Burnett (STL '07)

Honora Burnett grew up in the great state of Colorado. After completing her undergraduate studies at Barnard College, Columbia University, Honora participated in the Coro Fellowship for Public and Civic Affairs in St. Louis in 2006-2007. During Coro, Honora’s passion for crystallized and she went on to pursue a masters at Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College of Public Policy and Management with a focus on health policy. Since graduating, Honora has worked for Deloitte Consulting Federal Practice on a variety of health policy projects. Honora enjoys going on urban hikes in her current home (DC), getting very lost while traveling and volunteering at Howard University Hospital’s Emergency Room. Most importantly, Honora looks forward to contributing to the Coro National Alumni Association as a board member and officer!

Monica Alexander (LA '98)

A successful issue advocate and government relations professional, MWW Group Federal Relations Director Monica Alexander has a wealth of federal government experience, working on client issues related to tax, housing, workforce development, high-education, energy and appropriations.

Monica served at the pleasure of former Mayor of New Orleans, Marc H. Morial, where she collaborated with the city’s communications team to garner earned media and news placement for city agencies, as well as manage special research projects to create new models for program development. Monica also worked for Democratic Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA), for whom she served as a liaison to the White House, Democratic National Committee, and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. Monica functioned as a House Floor Assistant under the direction of her Chief Deputy Whip and the Minority Whip crafting democratic strategy on domestic and foreign public policy.

Monica previously served for five years as Senior Vice President of Federal Relations at the National Prostate Cancer Coalition, where she oversaw the Coalition’s congressional appropriations process and prepared its testimonies for Labor/HHS and Department of Defense hearings.  Among her many responsibilities at the Coalition, Monica also developed its legislative agenda for each fiscal cycle and advanced policy and platform in the cancer community and within community-based organizations.

Ed Gerber (LA '60)

Alan Holden (PGH '06)

Alan Holden joined Deloitte Consulting, LLP in December 2009, after serving for two years as an Assistant Vice President at B&D Consulting, a federal consulting and lobbying firm.  He graduated from Duke University in 2005, with a B.A. in Psychology, and received his Master’s degree from Carnegie Mellon’s Heinz School of Public Policy and Management in May 2007.

Alan’s professional experience includes strategic planning and project management as part of the launch of a school improvement services practice, as well as organizational capacity development on behalf of organizations hoping to increase their impact on federal policy.  He currently chairs the Government Relations working group for the Coro National Alumni Board.  In addition to Coro, Alan is an alumnus of the Institute for Educational Leadership’s Education Policy Fellowship Program, and is a current participant in the Funded Founders Institute for entrepreneurship.  Alan’s personal interests include politics, working out, coming up with random business ideas, and cheering for the San Antonio Spurs and Duke Blue Devils.

Kerry Lipsitz, (STL '02)

Kerry is currently working as an independent consultant in local government in London.  Prior to moving to England, she was senior auditor with the Nature Resource and Environment team at the U.S. Government Accountability Office, the congressional watchdog agency of the federal government. For almost five years, Kerry worked to improve the performance of the federal government by evaluating government policies and programs, auditing agency operations, and determining whether federal funds are being spent efficiently and appropriately. Kerry holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from St. Olaf College, a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Syracuse University, and a Master in Public Administration from The Maxwell School at Syracuse University.

Kerry has been an active member of the Coro community since her graduation from the St. Louis Coro Fellowship in Public Affairs in 2002. She started up the Coro DC alumni chapter after her arrival to the District in 2003 and she served as the Vice-President of the Coro National Alumni Association for the 2005-2007 term, and President for the 2007-2009 term. During her time with the Coro National Alumni Association, she has worked with Coro National and the Coro system to build and complete the Coro Alumni Center on the web and Coro National Online Alumni database.  Kerry also sits on the National Board of Governors.

Lesley Massiah (NY '09)

Born in Washington, D.C. and raised in the Bronx, New York, Lesley Massiah is the Assistant Vice President for Government Relations and State Affairs at Fordham University.  In this capacity, Ms. Massiah serves as the principle liaison to Washington, D.C. and New York legislative and executive branches, agencies and regulatory commissions on matters that affect the University.  Prior to her tenure at Fordham, Ms. Massiah worked for the NYS Assembly Ways and Means Committee as a legislative budget analyst specializing in housing, judiciary and higher education issues.

Ms. Massiah received her Bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Albany and was a Nelson Rockefeller graduate fellow for her Master degree studies in Political Science.  Additionally, Ms. Massiah received a professional certificate in political mobilization from Yale University’s Women’s Campaign School.  Ms. Massiah is a 2009 graduate of Leadership New York.

Kevin Mosley (LA '96)

Kevin Mosley’s practice focuses on complex civil litigation and white collar defense in criminal and civil matters.  He is experienced in all phases of civil litigation and has represented companies and individuals, as both plaintiffs and defendants, in claims regarding violations of federal civil rights laws and complex business torts such as breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, and professional malpractice.

Mr. Mosley has represented targets, subjects, and witnesses in all stages of criminal prosecutions and has conducted and participated in several internal investigations on behalf of multinational corporations under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA).  In addition, Mr. Mosley has represented individuals in connection with government contracting fraud investigations, export controls investigations, shareholder suits, and other fraud related allegations.

Mr. Mosley has spoken on panels and written articles for various industry publications on topics related to the conduct of internal investigations and privilege issues in civil and criminal litigation.  While at Georgetown University Law Center, he was the Notes and Comments Editor for The Tax Lawyer and authored “When is Compensation Paid as Salary to Shareholder Employees of Personal Service Corporations Treated as Dividends:  Pediatric Surgical Associates, P.C. v. Commissioner,” The Tax Lawyer (Summer 2002).

Mimi Rayl (LA '82)

Mimi Rayl is in her second term on the CNAA Board.  Her initial involvement with Coro was as a Public Affairs Fellow in the Los Angeles Fellows Program of 1982. 

Mimi has worked in real estate development for a number of years.  She is currently a Development Project Manager for a regional real estate development firm headquartered in Dayton, Ohio with an affordable housing practice.  Previous experience in the field has included serving as Development Project Manager for a non-profit affordable housing organization in Palo Alto, California and as a Development Project Manager and Director of Environmental Operations for a homebuilding and development company in Southern California. 

Mimi holds a B.A. in Government from the University of Virginia and a Master of Regional Planning Degree from the State University of New York at Albany.  In her role as a professional planner Mimi served as Senior Planner for the Hudson River Valley Greenway Communities Council, a state agency that works with local, county governments, and regional coalitions in a 13-county territory from Albany to New York City to encourage asset-based local land use planning balancing economic development and resource protection needs and to develop voluntary, incentive-based regional planning compacts and alliances.  She was also the Senior Planner for the New York Planning Federation and the Associate City Planner for the City of Saratoga Springs, NY. 

Professional interests include regional collaboration, waterfront revitalization, and other asset-based community revitalization strategies to meet local and regional needs.

Jim Schoning (LA '66)

Jim served California Governor Pete Wilson’s Administration from 1991-99 as Chief of the Bureau of Automotive Repair and the 1st Ombudsman at the California Air Resources Board. He served previously as Chief Administrative Officer of the Assembly, and Assistant to the Assembly Republican Leader. A 1966 graduate of the CSC Fellows Program, Jim's 16 year service on Coro staff includes Director of Programs and Training in Southern California and New York City, where he helped establish Coro's Fellows program from 1983-88.

Jim developed Coro programs meeting the needs of Southern California’s reach for regional governance; new state legislators; the California Business Roundtable; high school, college; Hispanic law students and educators; mid-career women, African American women in South Central Los Angeles, Westchester County and Hispanic women in New York City.  A founding CNAA Board Member, he serves on Coro National’s Board of Governors and the Board of the W. Donald Fletcher Trust, established to preserve and disseminate the written work of Coro’s Co-Founder.  Jim received CNAA’s Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award in 1992, the 2001 Van Duyn Dodge Award, and CSC's first ever Legacy Award “for a lifetime devoted to Coro.”

Jim resides with wife Chere in Sacramento. He was previously married to the late Virginia Jarrell Schoning, in whose name a fund exists at Coro National to assist Coro’s work.  Jim edited the University of Redlands' All American newspaper; completed the 1984, 1985 and 1986 New York City Marathons, and in 1999 trekked Nepal's Khumbu region, twice ascending above 18,000’.

Stephanie Stone (LA '01)

After 20 years in the U.S. Navy and 8 years working for Coro Southern California Stephanie is a communication consultant working for local and regional government agencies. Stephanie is an avid long distance runner who began the New Year continuing last year’s resolution to run a half marathon (13.1 miles) monthly.  A lifelong Angeleno, Stephanie resides in her hometown of San Pedro with her daughter Katie, and pets Hestia, Moe, and Alice, while son Sean, City Year graduate, attends Pasadena City College.
