Rebeccah Bennett – STL '99
Bennett says that her Coro experience continually informs her current work. As a consultant, Bennett must identify and display potential relationships between stakeholders who “often times work in silos, isolated” and facilitate the process that transforms an unknown other into a familiar partner. To facilitate that process for others, Bennett must be willing and skilled in diving into new and unfamiliar experiences—another ability she fostered through Coro. Read More

Ben Cannon - STL '00
Coro played a critical role in my career, first by turning me on to politics, then by sending me back into graduate school with the knowledge that there was a lot more I wanted to understand about political philosophy and sociology before I attempted to apply myself to governance.  Along the way, I became a middle school teacher -- I love the age group, the ideas, and the knowledge that every single interaction I have with my students matters for them and for me. Read More

Daniel Marks Cohen - NY '05
Coro has been immeasurably helpful in giving me a broader understanding of how things get built in this City, which is critical for my job.  The connections and the experiences I had were a part of my success in getting the job, and my success IN the job. Read More

David Hochschild – SF '95
Upon finishing Coro in 1995, David went on to work in the San Francisco Mayor’s office, graduate from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, and in 2001, coordinate a campaign to establish a $100 million solar bond to install solar panels on public buildings in San Francisco. Read More

Ben Johnson – STL '05
My fondest memory of my Coro experience was our Washington, DC, trip—not only the week in DC, but also, all the work and coordination that went into planning the trip. Meeting the Fellows from two other Centers and collaborating with them provided a wonderful opportunity to grow from their experiences and to experience each Center’s variations of the Coro tools. Read More

Keena Lipsitz – LA '95
When asked about her favorite Coro memories, Keena fondly recalls her trainer, Alan Gershwin. “I can’t imagine a better trainer. He kept us on our toes and continually challenged us to look at situations in new ways.” Keena values the lessons of the Fellowship, both those about societal issues – such as those about race relations in California she learned about while working on a statewide “No to 187” campaign – and others more personal ones. Read More

Jennifer P. Lyman – LA '75
“The love of experiential learning is what drew me to Coro, though I could not have articulated it then. The Coro experiential process helped me identify criminal law as the field for me. I had a placement with the County Court system’s Witness Project, where I saw the parts that worked and parts that didn’t, and based on my hands-on interaction, I had the chance to work on system improvements. Read More

Keith Nitta – LA '97
Almost a decade ago, Keith and I met at the Coro Southern California Center, along with 10 other motivated and intelligent individuals. Despite being 12 individuals, we all knew that this 12-person jury, discipleship, or whatever you wanted to call it, had to learn to work together over the next nine months. Read More

Sabine Romero - LA '96
My Coro year also gave me the relationships and experiences that I’ve built on ever since—my Fellows year individual group project was with Southwest Voter Registration Education Project, and they became my first job after Coro; when I left California and went back to Texas, my first job was working for a Coro alum, City Councilmember Robert Marbut; and the relationships I began in California during Coro have continued to develop. Read More
