2009 National Gathering
The Coro National Alumni Association is excited to host its annual gathering in Pittsburgh, PA, from November 6-8, 2009. This year, Pittsburgh’s center, the Coro Center for Civic Leadership, celebrates its 10th year anniversary, and invites alumni and community partners to join us for this engaging three-day event.
You may know Pittsburgh as the mid-20th century steel-manufacturing center and the home of the six-time Super Bowl champions, the Pittsburgh Steelers. What you may not know is that Pittsburgh is a wonderful place to live—full of the amenities of a much larger city at a more manageable size and cost.
In 2007, Rand McNally’s Places Rated Almanac named Pittsburgh “America’s Most Liveable City”. Pittsburgh was evaluated on nine criteria including cost of living, transportation, jobs, education, climate, crime, health care, recreation, and ambience. A recent report by the Pew Charitable Trust identified Pittsburgh as one of the major U.S. cities that is actually thriving in the current economic climate: Pittsburgh’s focus shifted from manufacturing to health care and education over the last three decades, resulting in an economically diversified area that has largely missed the housing and dotcom booms.
Come witness the aspects that only visitors and residents know about our city. You will be amazed by the award-winning views of the city atop Mt. Washington, the vibrant cultural district, our nationally-recognized sports stadiums, the emerging technologies and green jobs that have been created in our region, as well as great nightlife in our diverse neighborhoods.
