CORO

Women in Leadership Employer Resources

Providing your female employees with professional development opportunities adds incredible value to your organization.  An opportunity that will provide leadership training, networking, and coaching to the women of your organization, exists right here in Pittsburgh!  Check out a list of the companies that have taken advantage of this great opportunity!

The Coro Center for Civic Leadership’s Women in Leadership (WIL) Program is a three month (12 week), part-time, evening training program aimed at providing an opportunity for women to enhance their personal and professional leadership skills, and to position themselves for advanced leadership roles. The WIL program prioritizes bringing together a diverse group of women.  Participants come from various sectors, ages, races, and levels of work experience.

Benefits to Your Organization

In order for the Pittsburgh region to retain a competitive workforce, organizations need to be able to recruit and retain female employees.  By supporting Coro’s Women in Leadership program, you will:

◊ Develop a pool of female leaders at your organization

◊ Create publicity for your organization’s mission, products, and services

◊ Demonstrate commitment to women’s leadership

◊ Provide coaching for your female leaders

◊ Arm your female employees with an impressive “skill toolbox”.

Benefits to Participants

The program focuses on building leadership skills through course activities that focus on five categories: written and spoken communication, teamwork/collaboration, critical thinking/problem solving, professionalism/work ethic, and leadership.

Employer Testimonial:
Developing the skills of all employees has always been an integral part of the Dtrategic Plan at Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, and dynamic capable leaders are critical to the success of the Food Bank meeting the challenges of the future.  As for (the Women in Leadership) program, participating employees found elements like one-on-one coaching and developing an individual "professional strategic plan" particularly helpful.  Women's experience doesn't routinely include career skill-building, and treating leadership as a skill that can be developed and strengthened, and not just a fixed gift of the few, helps bring women into gender parity in any workplace."
Joyce Rothermel                                        Chief Executive Officer                      Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank
