Hosting a Community Problem-Solving Fellow

Benefits to Placement Organizations 

Placements are project-based internships that improve the host organization’s productivity and ability to achieve strategic initiatives.  During their eight-week placements, Community Problem-Solving Fellows create deliverables such as marketing materials, operations manuals, benchmarking reports, or company events.  Placement hosts benefit from increased organizational capacity, professional-quality deliverables, and access to the Fellows’ expanding networks.

Previous Placement Deliverables Include: 

  • Process Map and Analysis of Client Intake Systems
  • Event Planning and Implementation of Organization-Wide Annual Picnic
  • Design and Development of Marketing Materials, including Brochurs and Posters 

 

Placement Schedule

 

Fellows report to their placement organization from Monday through Thursday during the organization’s normal operating hours for a total of 32 hours per week.  Organizations that operate on flex-time can work with the Fellow to develop a schedule that accommodates 32 hours of dedicated placement work.  Fellows are also available to attend evening and weekend events that do not conflict with scheduled Coro seminars or other Coro engagements. 

Coro seminars take place on Tuesday evenings from 6 – 9 PM and Fridays from approximately 8 AM to 6 PM.  Fellows are also responsible for completing additional assignments outside of the scheduled seminar and placement time. 

Evaluation and Project Planning

 

The placement supervisor and Coro staff will work together to evaluate the performance of the CPS Fellow and the placement progress.  Coro staff conducts regular check-in meetings and phone calls.  While the host organization has the primary supervisory responsibility, Coro staff support the Fellow and the placement through additional one-on-one coaching with the Fellow, skills training, and extensive individual feedback.
