As the Coro Center for Civic Leadership worked in 2003 to begin the first experiential women’s leadership development program, many of the city’s leaders were instrumental in discussing how to implement the first class. Karen Myres was one of those women. Karen dedicated her time and expertise to many worthy causes during her two decades as a Pittsburgher.

Sadly, Pittsburgh and the Coro Center for Civic Leadership lost this fierce advocate in July of 2009. As we celebrate the life of Karen Myres, Coro Pittsburgh will now offer the Karen Myres Memorial Women in Leadership Scholarship, to program candidates who may not have the resources available to fund the full tuition.


More than 150 women have enhanced their professional and community leadership skills, accomplished a year-long personal strategic plan with the support of a coach, and have implemented projects dedicated to addressing issues faced by the women of southwestern Pennsylvania.  Coro's Women in Leadership Program is the only program in the area that specifically addresses the need for comprehensive leadership training designed specifically for women.  The Scholarship Fund exists so that all applicable women interested in participating in the Women in Leadership program through Coro Pittsburgh, may do so, regardless of their background or profession.  Your support will ensure the continuation of positive impact on women in the southwestern Pennsylvania region.
