CORO

Leaders in Learning Curriculum

The program is based on interactive and experiential training.  The training will prepare participants for active participation and leadership roles in educational settings. By understanding, building and leveraging local and regional relationships, participants will work to create positive change for their communities.  Leaders in Learning focuses on expanded involvement in the community by developing skills and networks that foster collaboration and create opportunities for regional transformation in education.

Coro and A+ Schools are looking to:

  • Convene new faces in education
  • Generate new ideas and create a safe space for new energy and conversation
  • Build new leadership within the education community
  • Raise the level of understanding for educational issues
  • Welcome all parties interested in education, whether you are a parent, business owner, young professional, or concerned citizen

The 2009 LIL cohort recently concluded its project, almost a year later. The group spent the first half of 2010 surveying parents and teachers within the district and creating a report on family engagement. The group has utilized its connections (many of which were made through LIL) to present its report, and has begun what could be a movement within the district. In June, two of the group’s members had the opportunity to meet with PPS Board of Education President, Mr. William Isler, to discuss the report’s findings.
