Coro National Staff
Steven Redfield
Managing Director, Training and Related Services
The Coro National Board of Governors created this position in April, 2008, to work collaboratively throughout the Coro system to enhance communication and skill development for trainers, share cost-effective program models, continue work on the written curriculum and new training materials, and work to describe the outcomes and impact of Coro training. The position will also support Coro National's activities to enhance the Coro "brand," coordinate with alumni initiatives, support recruitment, and pave the way for new sources of fund raising.
Mr. Redfield returns to Coro in this staff position after 18 years in the field of non-profit workforce development, where he worked for STRIVE, Inc., an international network of job training programs for chronically unemployed, low income youth and adults. Mr. Redfield oversaw training and staff development, technical assistance, reporting and quality control, and new affiliate start-up for the network of 17 affiliates in the United States, Great Britain and Israel. He joined the network-wide STRIVE staff in 2003, after founding the Chicago STRIVE affiliate in 1990 and serving as its Executive Director for 13 years. During that period, STRIVE Chicago helped 4,000 clients enter the workforce, developed a comprehensive career advancement initiative, and implemented numerous employer partnerships.
Before joining the STRIVE network, Mr. Redfield served as Director of Training for the Coro New York Leadership Center, and previously worked in education advocacy in New York City. He graduated from the Los Angeles Coro Fellows Program in 1981, and has served numerous roles for Coro, including field faculty, board member, volunteer recruiter, member of the CNAA board and volunteer “faculty” for recent train-the-trainer events.
Mr. Redfield holds a Masters Degree in Public Policy Analysis from Claremont Graduate Schools and an undergraduate degree from Yale University. Based in Chicago, he currently serves on the Advisory Board for Loyola University’s Center for Urban Research and Learning, served five years as President of the Chicago Jobs Council, and recently completed a term as Chair of the Illinois Job Corps Business and Industry Council.
