Coro New York Leadership Center on Facebook

Exploring Leadership (EL) is Coro New York’s year-long civic leadership program for NYC public high school students, training them to serve as leaders who represent themselves and other young people in decisions that affect their communities.

The Exploring Leadership program is generously supported by The Altman Foundation, The Thomas and Jeanne Elmezzi Foundation, The Pinkerton Foundation, The W. Clement & Jessie V. Stone Foundation, The Louise and Arde Bulova Fund, and other contributors.

Youth Ambassadors will gain increased:

  • Desire and confidence to take action to make a difference
  • Skills to lead effectively
  • Knowledge of how public policy decisions are made
  • Ability to leverage their experience and networks

In partnership with four small NYC public high schools -- Bushwick School for Social JusticeHigh School for Public Service, School for Democracy and Leadership, and Gotham Professional Arts Academy -- EL selects a total of 26 students (6-7 students per school) to participate in the year-long program as “Youth Ambassadors.” Exploring Leadership alumni stay involved through participation in advanced civic leadership opportunities.
