Leadership and Volunteer Opportunities

Coro New York alumni are integral to our work, playing critical roles in recruitment and selection of program participants, planning and delivering alumni events, and strengthening our programs.   Listed below are just a few ways that alumni are invited to become involved:

Help Recruit Applicants for the Fellows Program in Public Affairs
Wherever you are, there are several ways you can help cultivate leadership by letting folks know about the Coro Fellows Program in Public Affairs.

  • Did you have a great summer intern who will be finishing college this spring? Have a friend looking to make a career move? Suggest Coro as a way to go!
  • Want to take a walk down memory lane? Attend a career fair in your area with Coro staff, host an information session at your alma mater or join a panel discussion and help bring Coro to other potential leaders at schools and organizations nationwide! All you have to do is show up and recall your Coro experience!
  • Are you on more mailing lists than you can count? Put those lists to good use and pass along the link to our Fellows Program website!
  • Have a few minutes to spare after work this fall? Participate in one of our phone-banking nights to encourage potential candidates to apply, or volunteer to make a few calls from home!
  • Help assess the candidates for the Fellows Program. Volunteer to read applications for the Fellows Program in Public Affairs. Your evaluations of the applicants will help determine who will go on to the next stage of the selection process.
  • Be a judge at the Fellows Program Selection Day. Every March, 30 finalists are chosen out of the applicant pool to participate in a day-long assessment to determine the next class of Coro Fellows. Coro invites program alumni and Coro community members to join in the selection process and serve on one of the judging panels.

Please contact Suzanne Lee at (212) 248-2935, ext. 242, if you would like to assist with finding and reaching out to potential recruits or help in the selection process. We’re open to all suggestions, so if you have other ideas for career-oriented events or similar outreach opportunities, let us know and help make our next Fellows class a diverse and dynamic group!

Join the Coro New York Alumni Association Board (CAAB)
The Coro Alumni Association Board (CAAB) is currently accepting applications for new members.  CAAB plays a key role in the Coro alumni community planning and implementing alumni events, supporting Coro’s fundraising efforts and providing advice on Coro’s future. Members commit to attending three meetings per year and contributing in a significant way to at least one CAAB related project designed to support key Coro priorities.  For more information on CAAB membership, please contact Seth Hufford at (212) 248-2935, ext. 304.

Volunteer for the Rudin Dinner Organizing Committees!
Calling all Coro alumni – we need your enthusiasm, creativity, and overall pizzazz! Party-planners, you know who you are! Mix it up with other members of the organizing committees for Coro's 25th Anniversary Lewis Rudin Awards for Civic Leadership in May 2007. Bring your inspired ideas, civic minds and organizing skills to help us put together a memorable and meaningful event.  Please contact Joy Shigaki at (212) 248-2935, ext. 309, to volunteer or for more information.
