Participants
Exploring Leadership Youth Ambassadors come from four NYC public high schools -- Bushwick School for Social Justice, High School for Public Service, School for Democracy and Leadership, and Urban Academy. They are 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students who want to improve their leadership skills, learn about education, and make a positive social change in their communities. As a result of the Youth Ambassadors’ and alumni’s leadership, youth voice and civic participation in the partner school community increase and the schools gain a greater capacity to deliver their educational missions.
The summer phase of the 2008-2009 Exploring Leadership program began in July. The newest Youth Ambassadors are spending the summer examining NYC education policy in depth and interning at education-related organizations.
