The Immigrant Civic Leadership Program (ICLP) enhances the capacity of leaders working to strengthen immigrant communities. ICLP participants explore strategies for shaping public policies that affect New York City as a whole and immigrant communities in particular. ICLP also challenges participants to examine their individual approaches to leadership, in order to build and sustain their organizational and personal visions for change.

Alumni Voices
"Before ICLP, Hot Bread Kitchen was a long-held passion and professional obsession. Now, a mere 15 months later, I have grown Hot Bread Kitchen, received the Echoing Green Fellowship, and been covered widely in the media. ICLP provided me with a network of professionals working in immigrant advocacy and gave me the support and space to plan and expand my vision.”
Jessamyn Waldman, ICLP '07
Founder and Director of Hot Bread Kitchen
“As a Coro
alum, I feel that I can see better what is the difference that my organization
is making and can make. This has translated into defining my organization’s
mission and work much better, and transitioning from being a project of Fifth
Avenue Committee into becoming an independent organization formed by
transnational people who works for social, cultural and economic justice for
the communities they left behind, and the communities where they live now. La
Union is growing and making a difference and I credit Coro for the support that allowed me to be a
better leader in this important stage of the organization.”
Leticia Alanis, ICLP '08
Co- Director, La Union de Comunidad Latina Fifth Avenue Committee
“There are skills and knowledge that I gained at Coro that I use every day
in my role as co-director, especially as our organization faces the challenges
of the current economy. I have also sent
other members of my staff to Coro
because the best asset of young organizations like ours, resides in the
strength and the leadership of those who run them.”
Sekou Siby, ICLP '07
Co- Director, Restaurant Opportunities Center (ROC-NY)
