Mayor's Youth Leadership Council

To apply to the Mayor's Youth Leadership Council, you must:

• Be nominated by your school, community group, or after school program
  
• Receive the endorsement of your school principal
• Be going into the 10th or 11th grade in Fall 2012
  
• Able to commit to a mandatory two week opening retreat in August, meeting afterschool on Mondays and one Saturday per month.
  
• Fill out online application

A group of twenty New York City public high school students will be chosen from the five boroughs to be a part of the Mayor's Youth Leadership Council. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated:

• commitment to their community
• leadership experience
• good academic standing
• interest in exploring social issues and city governance
